Associate Director, Virtual Asset (Crypto, Tokenized Asset)

As a key member of the virtual asset business team, you will lead and drive multiple projects focused on developing and managing crypto trading and tokenized assets (e.g., tokenized deposits, tokenized funds, tokenized gold, etc.). Collaborating with internal teams and external institutions, you will jointly design and drive innovative projects (crypto card/stablecoin co-brand card, custody and exchange services for government-led digital currencies, etc.).

You will oversee client and product onboarding procedures, facilitate cross-functional collaboration, ensure regulatory compliance, and support system enhancements to optimize operational efficiency and risk management. Serving as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, you will also play a critical role in shaping policies, maintaining compliance, and advancing the business's operations.

Responsibilities

• Develop the strategic vision and business plan for the virtual assets business.

• Supervise daily functions including trading operations, liquidity management, and VA product lifecycles.

• Drive growth and scale in crypto trading and tokenized asset investment.

• Collaborate with the bank card & payment team and external partners to jointly design and drive the entire crypto card project (including stablecoin co-brand card).

• Participate in government-led digital currency infrastructure (e.g., HKMA Project Ensemble), provide underlying support (custody services, exchange services between fiat and licensed digital currency, etc.), and design application scenarios (tokenized deposit and tokenized asset).

• Collaborating with the wealth management team and external partners, jointly design and drive multiple projects to support 7x24 transactions for tokenized fund and tokenized gold.

• Ensure bulletproof compliance under the HKMA and SFC frameworks.

• Develop and drive the bank's virtual asset platform to become market-leading among HK banks.

• Implement and iterate on robust internal controls to safeguard firm and client assets against operational and financial volatility.

• Monitor global regulatory trends and anticipate their potential impact on our business in Hong Kong. Stay ahead of global digital asset trends to pivot strategies and capture first-mover advantages in the HK market.

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of dedicated virtual asset experience in direct management, investment, or dealing (e.g., cryptocurrencies, tokenized assets, VA derivatives).

• Exposure to ≥2 full VA market cycles with demonstrable risk management outcomes.

• Expertise in SFC and HKMA VA frameworks.

• Compliance Mastery: Ability to design audit-ready VA workflows and documentation. Exclusion: history of non-compliance.

• Network: An established reputation within the digital asset ecosystem.

• Bridge: You can speak the language of both traditional institutions and native Web3 innovators.

• Resilience: Proven ability to manage VA business in a high-volatility, high-pressure, fast-paced environment.

• Commercial Acumen: Pragmatic approach to balancing innovation, cost efficiency, and regulatory rigor.

• Market Mastery: Profound understanding of VA trading, tokenization, liquidity provision, market making, and the nuances of operations.

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Fintech, Blockchain, quantitative, or related field; advanced degrees (e.g., CFA, FRM) advantageous.

• Strong communications, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills

• Agile and flexible to adapt

• Strong computer skills and proficient in using AI tools, with prior experience in system enhancement project

• Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua)
