Responsibilities:
Assist the Legal and Compliance Department to provide prompt, professional and high quality legal advice to all relevant business units and departments of the Bank to protect the Bank’s business and reputation
Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of agreements including fund/trust related documents, loan and security documentation and other documentation relating to the businesses of the Bank
Provide accurate, relevant and timely advice on employment laws and regulations to various departments of the Bank, handle and assist with a variety of employment queries and issues of the Bank as they arise
Draft and review employment agreements, employee handbooks and any other document in order to ensure the Bank to be compliant with local employment laws and regulations
Contribute to legal and regulatory proceedings, prepare and maintain internal reporting materials, policies and procedures
Maintain and develop positive, supportive and professional working relationships with other members of the Bank
Provide legal services in a cost-effective manner and properly manage legal expenses within the approved budget
Requirements:
Qualified lawyer in the Hong Kong SAR
Ideally 3 to 6 years of legal experience in banking & finance and employment laws
Strong expertise in Hong Kong employment laws, preferably with experience advising on cross-border employment issues
High awareness and up-to-date knowledge in evolving regulatory standards and well familiar with the latest requirements from HKMA, SFC and other regulators
Familiarity in the preparation of legal documentation including agreements, terms and conditions and bank forms
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, self-motivated and capable to accomplish tasks independently within deadline
Great sense of ownership and servicing mindset to ensure efficient and effective solution generating processes
Responsive, problem solving, creative, logical decision-making and analytical abilities
Proficiency in Cantonese, Mandarin and English
