Assistant Vice President, Legal

Responsibilities:

• Provide sound, timely and practical legal advice on the business operations of the bank 
• Draft and review a wide range of legal documents, standard templates and commercial agreements
• Participate in projects and meetings to provide legal support and identify potential legal risks 
• Liaise and coordinate with internal business units and external parties on legal matters
• Evaluate and monitor litigation cases of the bank
• Review and update internal policies, guidelines and operational manuals of the bank to ensure alignment with best practices
• Keep abreast of changes of legislation and case law, assessing their operational and business impacts on the bank
• Prepare regular reports for key risk committees and senior management 
• Conduct legal research 
• Supervise the work of subordinates

Requirements:

• Qualified lawyer in Hong Kong with at least 5-7 years of PQE
• Proven experience as an in-house counsel within the banking or financial services industry is highly advantageous
• Sound knowledge of banking laws and litigation
• Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Self-motivated, independent, responsible and detail-oriented with excellent problem solving, analytical and writing skills
