Responsibilities:
Analyze international sustainable finance market developments, regulations, and industry standards to deliver market-aligned advisory to clients
Assist in sustainability assessments of potential borrowers and financing proposals by gathering and analyzing relevant environmental, social, and governance (ESG) information
Work with relationship managers and frontline units to integrate sustainability considerations into lending activities, including identifying green and sustainable elements in transactions and developing relevant sustainability performance targets and key performance indicators
Support post-drawdown monitoring of sustainable finance facilities by tracking performance against agreed sustainability targets and KPIs, and preparing reports on issues or deviations.
Participate in reviewing and strengthening internal control mechanisms for sustainable finance transactions in accordance with the Bank’s sustainability framework and regulatory guidelines, ensuring integrity and preventing greenwashing
Conduct data collection, research, and basic analysis to support the team’s sustainability risk management initiatives
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to share knowledge and promote sustainable finance
Assist with management reporting related to sustainability and green banking initiatives for various governance bodies
Requirements:
Degree holder or above in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Economics, Finance, Business Administrative or related or related discipline
Minimum of 1 years experience in sustainability or sustainable finance (internships or graduate roles in banking, sustainability, ESG, or risk management are welcome)
Experience in sustainability disclosure frameworks (e,g. IFRS S1 and S2, TCFD, GRI, SASB)
Basic understanding of ESG principles, green/sustainable finance concepts, and climate-related risks.
Exposure to ESG performance management, green and sustainable finance, financial reporting, and/or credit systems is a plus
Strong knowledge and experience in carbon accounting (especially financed emissions) and carbon reduction initiatives (e.g. SBTi, NZBA) is advantageous
Fast learner and self-motivated with strong analytical skills and the ability to organize, analyze, and interpret data and information
Fluent in spoken and written English and Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua)
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
