About the job

Based at the Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong within Food & Beverage Division in Hong Kong, the Sommelier/Junior Sommelier is responsible for providing the beverage service. To be involved in the daily operation of the restaurant and to serve wines and spirits in the restaurants. Sommelier/Junior Sommelier reports to the Director of Beverage - Terrace Boulud.

As Sommelier/Junior Sommelier, you will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Deliver a delighted bar and dining experience to our guests
  • Oversee and maintain smooth and efficient operations in the bar areas
  • Understand guests’ needs and deliver excellent service and professional recommendation
  • Ensure that the beverage lists are updated and maintain accurate sales records
  • Monitor the proper storage, aging rotation and temperature of all stock in beverage storeroom in a daily basis
  • Serve all beverage order in accordanc with proper procedures
  • Provide on-the-job training to bartenders as well as the service team in all aspects of the beverage service and knowledge
  • Follow and apply HACCP standards at all times

As Sommelier/Junior Sommelier, we expect from you:

  • Holder of WSET certificate
  • With relevant working experience in similar capacity in hotel Food & Beverage, preferably with pre-opening experience in a luxury hotel
  • Passionate about delivering an exceptional F&B service
  • Pleasant, presentable, service -oriented, a team player with good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in Cantonese, English and Mandarin is an advantage
  • Candidates with less experiences will be considered as Junior Sommelier
