Assistant Restaurant Manager (5 days work)

McKay's, the flagship restaurant at The American Club is looking for Assistant Manager. He/She supports the Outlet Manager including daily operations and the supervision of the team.  Strives to continually improve Member engagement and experience, employee satisfaction and maximizes the financial performance of the outlet.  This position will also play a pivotal role in implementing on the job training plans and highlighting areas for improvement. 

Job Description

  • Handle member concerns efficiently and empower employees to deliver excellent customer service
  • Foster effective communication with kitchen staff and maintain a collaborative environment among team members
  • Ensure timely attendance and adequate staffing, reporting any shortfalls due to absenteeism or lateness
  • Maintain and exceed service standards, training the team on standard operating procedures (SOPs) and overseeing service delivery from welcome to farewell
  • Complete administrative and operational tasks timely, seeking improvements in business and service standards
  • Build strong relationships with members, Board of Governors, and committee members
  • Ensure cleanliness, safety, and compliance with regulations in outlet areas, logging any issues accordingly
  • Manage billing processes and ensure accurate order entry in accordance with procedures
  • Recognize and commend team excellence, participating in training and meetings as needed
  • Assist the outlet manager with financial oversight and support the operational team during peak periods

Qualifications & Skills

  • High school diploma or GED; 8 + years’ experience in food and beverage. Restaurant / hotel food and beverage experience and a thorough understanding of restaurant service with exceptional food and beverage knowledge is preferred
  • Fluency in spoken and written in English and spoken Cantonese 
  • Excellent leadership skills, organized, time management skills and detail oriented 
  • A true desire to understand and anticipate the needs of others in a fast paced environment 
  • A flexible approach to problem solving and working with others 
  • Previous experience as an Assistant Restaurant Manager or Restaurant Supervisor preferred
