Job Summary
Reporting to the VP of Business Compliance in Wholesale Banking Group (WBG), the job holder will play a crucial role in providing transversal support to the Business Compliance and Operational Risk Management functions under WBG’s Business Management Unit (BMU). The Business Compliance & Operational Risk Manager will be primarily responsible for managing the end-to-end processes of customer due diligence reviews including conducting KYC and AML risk assessments, while also spearheading operational risk management initiatives to mitigate risks and strengthen controls. The job holder will actively engage in projects that drive continuous process improvements, operational resilience and risk management to protect and advance WBG’s interests while ensuring alignment with internal regulatory policies and guidelines. This position requires a strong understanding of corporate banking products and services, as well as the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve business objectives. The ideal candidate will possess excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills, with a track record of delivering results in a dynamic banking environment.
What you will be doing:
Compliance Management
- Conduct thorough customer due diligence reviews on FI-Banks and Corporate customers in accordance with regulatory and internal policies.
- Act as a checker and provide guidance & oversight to junior team members
- Perform transaction review for vostro accounts as part of periodic/trigger event review on Corresponding Banking relationships
- Handle reverse KYC requests for nostro account opening
- Track and manage for appropriate sign-off of reviews by RMs and Team Heads, and as relevant Compliance and Head of WBG
- Provide reasonable assurance of compliance with applicable regulatory and internal/ Group requirements, policies and procedures
- Provide advisory support on regulatory and operational issues and process in relation to KYC/ AML matters
- Conduct compliance awareness/ reporting/ self-assessment/ training programs and drive communication regarding regulatory updates and risk procedures.
Operational Risk Management
- Partner with the WBG Operational Risk Partner to embed a strong risk awareness culture and support on risk management and control programme (e.g., RCSA Employee Conduct Triggers framework).
- Identify control gaps and lead initiatives to enhance the overall control environment, minimizing operational risk and fraud incidents.
- Oversee timely escalation, reporting, and remediation of operational risk events and non-compliance issues.
- Support data privacy and protection efforts, including Personal Data Inventory management and Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA).
- Partner with the WBG Critical Business Service Owner (CBSO) to contribute to implementation of operational resilience for critical business services (CBS) concerning WBG and coordinate critical business service mapping and scenario testing to ensure robust business continuity and recovery capabilities in event of CBS disruption.
Strategic Planning & Project Management
- Drive or contribute to the implementation and execution of group & local project and system or process enhancement for WBG
- Assist senior management on developing and implementing the strategic plan for WBG, aligning with the bank’s overall objectives.
- Identify and lead necessary improvement in risk control and operational efficiency
- Lead communication efforts to WBG staff regarding the latest strategic directions, updates, and achievements, while reinforcing the Bank’s PVA and LIFRR values (e.g., through the publication of the WBG Newsletter)
What we are looking for:
- University degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or other relevant disciplines
- Compliance &/or Operational Risk related certifications
- Minimum 7 years’ relevant experience in Corporate Banking, Compliance, Operational Risk, Business Management, or a related field
- Strong understanding of corporate banking products and services, as well as regulatory requirements.
- Experience with FI KYC and vostro/nostro account processes is a plus.
- Proficient in MS Office applications
- Professional presentation and report writing skills
- Well versed with banking and regulatory requirements (e.g. Code of Banking Practice)
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization.
