Assistant Vice President, Trade Operations

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our Trade Operations as the Section Head of the Processing Team.  This role is critical in ensuring the efficient processing of trade transactions in Hong Kong and/or our hubbing center, managing team performance, and coordinating system enhancements and projects within the department.  The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of trade services, strong leadership skills, and a proven track record in project coordination and management.

What you will be doing:

Team Leadership:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Processing Team to ensure high performance and adherence to departmental standards.
  • Works together with our Hubbing Center to ensure all transactions are processing under agreed SOP and within SLA.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.

Trade Services Expertise:

  • Overseeing the processing of trade transactions, including but not limited to Letters of Credit, Guarantees, Invoice Financing, Documentary Collections and/or Negotiation/Discounting, ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and changes in trade regulations to ensure best practices are followed.

Project Coordination:

  • Act as primary project coordinator for the Trade Operations, managing projects from initiation to completion.
  • Collaborate with all stakeholders to implement with trade related system enhancements.

Process Improvement:

  • Identify areas for process improvement within the Trade Operations and implement solutions to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOP) for trade processing activities.

Reporting and Analysis

  • Prepare and present regular reports to Management for the activities of Trade Operations.

What we are looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field or relevant professional certification (e.g CDCS, CSDG) is preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in trade services or a related field, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Proven experience in project management and system coordination within a trade services environment.
  • Strong knowledge of trade finance products and services, as well as relevant regulations and compliance standards.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • Proficient in project management methodologies and tools, with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Familiarity with trade processing systems and technology is highly desirable.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to quality and accuracy.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • A proactive approach to identifying resolving issues.
