Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join our team, focusing on advising and supporting the Standard Chartered's Affluent and Wealth Solutions (A&WS) businesses in Greater China and North Asia (GCNA), as well as the broader Wealth and Retail Banking (WRB) business. The ideal candidate will utilize their legal expertise in regulatory, banking, and financial products to provide comprehensive legal guidance and support.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise and support the A&WS businesses in GCNA and the WRB business more broadly, leveraging legal skills and experience in regulatory, banking, and financial products.
- Act as both a legal advisor and specialist as required, liaising with external counsel where necessary.
- Assess legal enforceability risk impacting the Bank.
- Provide independent legal advice and sound judgment to stakeholders while working as part of a closely knit team, ensuring legal best practices are adopted.
- Support Group and Country stakeholders on various projects and initiatives.
- Align with other Legal colleagues both in country and also other jurisdictions to ensure consistency of approach across the Bank.
- Perform other responsibilities as may be assigned.

Skills and Experience
- Proven experience in a legal advisory role within the banking and financial services industry
- Strong knowledge of regulatory, banking, and financial products, particularly within the affluent wealth portfolios
- Ability to act as both a legal advisor and specialist for our businesses
- Excellent judgment and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong stakeholder management experience across different jurisdictions
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience liaising with external counsels and partners
Qualifications
- Law Degree holder
- License holder to Practice Law within the respective jurisdictions
- 5 – 8 Years PQE
